WELCOME TO THE

GENERAL SAMUEL HOPKINS CHAPTER, NSDAR

Patriotism * Historic Preservation * Education

We are a service organization - a group of women from different backgrounds, ranging in age from 18  to 98. Our mission is to serve our community through the promotion of patriotism and service to veterans, supporting historic preservation, and encouraging education of school students and the public. We do all of these things without regard to race, ethnicity, or religious background.

During 2016, we celebrated our 120th anniversary as a continuously active chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR). We formed on the 11th day of February 1896.

Spring Garden Cemetery, the final resting place of our chapter namesake, General Samuel Hopkins, was vandalized on May 15, 2018.

Our chapter continues to raise funds to repair as much of the damage as possible. We will work with the City of Henderson, who owns the cemetery, to restore what we can.

This article in The Gleaner gives some history of the cemetery, the vandalism, and how you can help restore it.
